Anderson Township Comprehensive Plan
WHY IS THE ANDERSON TOWNSHIP COMREHENSIVE PLAN IMPORTANT TO CABOOM?
Anderson Township has begun the process of updating the 2005 Comprehensive Plan.
While planning for the future is important, the members of CABOOM and residents of Anderson Township have a lot to lose through this process. Currently the proposed Martin Marietta Mine site is designated on the 2005 plan for warehouse and office development and it is zoned light industrial (warehouse development, offices). Mining is permitted only with the approval of the Board of Zoning Appeals which, to date, has not given the go ahead for mining. An amendment to the plan could strengthen Martin Marietta's hand in getting BZA approval or even lead to a change in the current zoning to 'heavy industrial district" where mining would be permitted even without BZA approval.
We have fought the proposed Martin Marietta Mine hard and our voices have been heard. We CANNOT let our efforts be derailed by a change to the Comprehensive Plan. We must continue to fight and we must continue to be heard.
The Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee is made up of individuals who represent the interests of business not real citizens. We must not allow this committee alone to decide the fate our community.
The updated Comprehensive Plan will serve as a guide for township officials in decision making for all future land use. We must make sure that this future does NOT include a Martin Marietta Mine.
It's important that we let the Committee know that we continue to prefer the vision of the current plan because we know that mining will brings noise, dust, vibration, and a host of other problems.
